Île-de-France is rich in diverse cultures, but we rarely know how they live beyond our public spaces. Vodou in particular remains surrounded by stereotypes. After my first immersion at a Haitian jazz music concert, I explore how Vodou practitioners adapt their rituals in places that don't conform to their original frameworks, a discreet culture expressing itself in the interstices of our urban life. This series questions the identity of a uprooted population that has been evolving in the metropolis for several generations.

My first encounter with African athletes began during a trip to Kenya in 2018. Looking for a place to train boxing, I discovered the Pumwani Social Hall in Nairobi.

The gym was raw and run-down, its posters and informational flyers ageless.

There I found athletes driven by an uncommon passion and dreams of a better life.

Caught between a lack of infrastructure, resources and their daily priorities, they find in sport a way to channel themselves, to find the peace and discipline necessary for their emancipation.

Like a continent that is home to the world's youngest population — with nearly two thirds of its inhabitants under the age of 25 — my photos paint a portrait of a youth that plays football, boxes and wrestles, across different African countries.

A new generation in full transition, contributing to the image of an Africa that wins.
